DHSTN Message

Welcome to the 2022-2023 academic school year!

Greetings Parents and Students,

For four decades, DeKalb High School of Technology North (DHSTN) continues to deliver the highest quality CTAE instructional career pathways that provide students with the opportunities to acquire challenging academic and technical skills, and thus prepare them for high-skill, high-wage, and high-priority occupations and careers in a competitive 21st century global economy.

We are eager to serve over 300 students from ten feeder high schools within DeKalb County.  Career pathways in DeKalb County School District are furnished with equipment and classroom hands-on projects that expose and prepare students for relevant learning experiences.

DeKalb CTAE career pathways are designed to build a coherent transition for students to gain technical skills, credentials, networks, employment, and postsecondary credits.  Business involvement and student leadership will be at the center of all activities and strategies.

At DHST-N we offer top notch CTAE programs in the following areas:  Automotive, Construction, Cosmetology, Criminal Justice & Law, Dental Science, Healthcare Science, Information Technology, and Manufacturing.  Our experienced teachers and staff prepare students for a wide range of high wage jobs, in demand careers and apprenticeships.  The CTAE teachers are connected to industry and postsecondary through summer externships and continuous professional learning.

Students will have the opportunity to become active members of the following Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO):  SkillsUSA, TSA, and HOSA.  The CTSO provides students the opportunity to further their skills and knowledge by participating in extracurricular activities, leadership development activities, community service projects and relative competitive events.  CTAE students participate in local, regional, state, and national competitions which allow them to showcase their highly developed expertise outside the classroom.

DHST-N is designed to allow students to select a program of interest from our list of course offerings and earn credits toward graduation as well as industry recognized certifications-all during the regular school day! DHST-N operates on a

4 x 4 block schedule where two blocks of the day are spent at DHST-N receiving hands-on training and the other two blocks of the day are spent at the home school. Bus transportation is provided to and from the respective home school.

We look forward to a successful school year!

Sincerely,

Jason Heard
