September 11 Remembrance at Atria Senior Living Facility


Cross Keys High School SkillsUSA members in partnership with Atria Senior Living Facility and Youth Service America observes Remembrance of 9/11 Day. In preparation, Members are interviewing veterans and preparing memorabilia in observance of their contributions while in the military. SkillsUSA member will prepare artifacts that represent their era while in the military. Other veterans at Atria include Odilla Morris, Army nurse and Mr. Richard Hess. Pictured above is Yami Jarquin and Adriana Teodora interviewing Judge Richard Rutledge.

Judge Rutledge Jersey-born and Brooklyn-raised began is his five-year service when he enlisted in the U.S. Army Corps in 1941, and was assigned to the ground crew of the famed 99th Pursuit Squadron. He was well-known as a Tuskegee Airmen.

At the age of 95, Judge Rutledge resides at Atria Senior Living Home. Yami Jarquin, stated that “it was interesting talking to a man of history. I had never talked to a Judge”. He talked about his life as an airmen and Judge in New York.
