A SATURDAY WITH VETERANS

On December 14, the Cross Keys High School SkillsUSA Chapter spent their Saturday playing BINGO with hospitalized veterans at the Veterans Medical Center.  Members demonstrated the essential elements of work ethics and responsibility as they assisted the veterans playing Bingo.  Ashley Portillo stated that “these veterans take Bingo very serious.”  The veterans immediately wanted to know what the prized was.  Members had to donate $2.00 per game to the winners.  Using their professional skills, each member was responsible for assisting a veteran.

After a total of eight games, Members had an opportunity to talk with the veterans about their military.  Gustavo talked with his veteran about his service in the air force.  Gustavo stated that “Mr. Johnson was injured in World War II and it has been bothering it ever since.”  Theirno who called out the numbers stated “let’s do this again, they liked us being with them”.
