National SkillsUSA Visits Cross Keys

On November 5, 2015 SkillsUSA National Office visited the Cross Keys SkillsUSA Chapter and members. Cross Keys was named one of 24 schools as a Model of Excellence Chapter. The Purpose of the trip included Videographer, Bryce Doeschot capturing sound bites and images as Kelly Horton interviewed students and advisors. Videographer, Tom Kercheval was on hand to capture sound bites and images related to chapter meetings and program of work functions. These images will be used in the “What is SkillsUSA?” Membership kit kick off video and any other related videos.

Chapter members were responsible for role modeling of chapter meeting experiences – committee meeting, planning, officers talking to a group of members. Gayle Silvey worked with members to position them in a lot of different chapter related settings. President, Fernando Flores stated that this was an honor to have the National Office in our school. Delia Mendez summed the experience by stating, “SkillsUSA is Life.” The theme for 2016-2017 is SkillsUSA: Champions at Work, Preparing America’s Skilled Workforce. The sound bites and images will be centered around the theme for next year so that they are highlighted on the high school kick off video.
