FRUIT BASKETS FOR OUR VETERANS

On November 12, Cross Keys High School SkillsUSA provided hand-made fruit baskets to the veterans of Atria Senior Living Home.  SkillsUSA members purchased fruit, military souvenirs and accessorized baskets to present to ten (10) World War I and II veterans.  One of the veterans was Tuskegee Airman, Richard Rutledge. After presenting the baskets, members had an opportunity to eat lunch with the veterans and listen to their military stories.  Diana Nyugen who plans to enter the military after graduation was ecstatic to her the stories.  She stated, “this gives me an insight of what to expect in the military.”  Stephanie and Cindy Ramirez stated that the main thing was seeing their face when we presented the baskets.

Jasmine Mathis, Engagement Director at Atria, thanked us for honoring the veterans and wants to continue our partnership.  She stated, “caring and honoring the veterans is greatly appreciated”.
